# pale-signal

A local-first CLI tool for tracking daily life signals. No cloud, no accounts, just data.

## Installation

```bash
pip install pale-signal
```

## Usage

```bash
# Add today's data
pale-signal add
# View statistics
pale-signal summary
pale-signal summary --days 7
# Generate plots
pale-signal plot sleep_hours
pale-signal plot mood
```

## What It Tracks

- **sleep_hours** (0-24)
- **focus** (1-10)
- **mood** (1-10)
- **work_hours** (0-24)
- **social** (none, online, casual, meaningful, deep)

## What It Does

- Calculates averages and rolling averages
- Computes correlations between metrics
- Identifies threshold-based flags
- Generates time series plots

## What It Doesn't Do

- No predictions
- No recommendations
- No cloud sync
- No machine learning
- No habit tracking
- No productivity advice

## Data Storage

All data stored locally in `~/.pale-signal/`:
- `data.json` - Your entries
- `output/` - Generated plots

## Philosophy

Daily internal states feel chaotic and subjective. This tool converts them into structured data and visible trends.

**Goal: Awareness through evidence, not prediction.**

## Requirements

- Python 3.8+
- matplotlib

## License

MIT

## Constraints

- Python only
- CLI only
- JSON storage
- No external databases
- No frameworks
- No ML libraries
- Code must remain readable

If a feature does not directly improve signal clarity, it does not belong.
