1. What data we collect
Short answer: Nothing that identifies you.
When you use Blend, we do not collect your name, email, IP address, device fingerprint, browser type, or location. We do not use cookies for tracking. We do not create a profile of your search behavior.
We may collect anonymous, aggregated metrics (e.g., total number of searches per day, which tabs are most used) purely for infrastructure planning. These metrics contain zero personal data and cannot be used to identify individual users.
2. What happens to your search query
Your search query is transmitted securely (HTTPS) to our server, which then forwards it to multiple third-party search engines on your behalf. This proxy approach means the third-party engines see our server's IP — not yours.
We do not store, log, or analyze your queries. Once a search result is returned to you, we have no record of what was searched.
Note: While we strip your identity from requests to search providers, they still receive the search query itself. Please review their respective privacy policies if you have concerns.
3. Cookies and local storage
We use minimal browser localStorage for storing your preferences only — things like dark mode setting, selected search engine, and safe search level. This data never leaves your browser and is never sent to our servers.
We do not use any third-party tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics scripts (no Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, nothing of that sort).
4. Third-party content
Search results may include links to third-party websites. When you click those links, you leave Blend and are subject to those sites' privacy policies. We are not responsible for external sites' data practices.
Images and thumbnails shown in results are loaded directly from their source URLs by your browser. We do not proxy image requests, so the source servers may log your IP when you load images.
5. Open Street Map
Our Maps tab embeds OpenStreetMap iframes. OSM is a privacy-respecting mapping platform. No tracking maps are used on Blend. Please review OSM's privacy policy for iframe embed data practices.
6. Data retention
We retain no personal data. There is nothing to delete. There are no accounts. There is no data associated with you on our servers.
Your browser's localStorage preferences can be cleared anytime from the Settings page using the "Clear all preferences" button.
7. Legal requests
Because we collect no data, we have nothing to hand over in response to legal requests, court orders, or government demands. We cannot share what we do not have.
8. Children's privacy
Blend does not knowingly collect any information from users under 13. Since we collect no information from anyone, this applies universally. Safe Search is enabled by default to help filter age-inappropriate content.
9. Changes to this policy
If we update this privacy policy, we will post the new version here with an updated date. We will never make this policy less protective of your privacy without clear notice.
