Window behavior
- Studio begins maximized. Use the title-bar square to restore or maximize it.
- The title bar, icon, and File / Workspace / View / Tools / AI Assistant / Help menus stay at the left; window controls stay at the right.
- Dialogs use the same maximize, restore, and close graphics and remain clamped to the usable monitor area.
- The last valid Chronicle workspace, selected VFS, assistant settings, and configuration path are restored on the next launch.
Main areas

| Federation Explorer | Expand the current workspace to see projects, sources, mounts, build profiles, and review proposals. |
| Context Inspector | Check the workspace path, generation, trust state, pending reviews, and exact fingerprint. |
| Diagnostics | Read lifecycle and error details. Open or hide it from View. |
| Process Observatory | Check supervisor authentication, protocol, task progress, and cancellation. |
| Status bar | Confirm the active workspace and supervisor state. Tool panels remain above this bar. |
Toolbar actions

| Chronicle Center | Review overview, immutable history, recovery candidates, and proposals. |
| Open VFS | Preview and select an existing .vfsbin image for inspection. |
| Rule Lab | Show the Monk fixture panel. Choose the checked action again, or its close control, to hide it. |
| Path Resolution Lens | Show the path trace panel. Choose the checked action again to hide it. |
| AI Configuration / Workbench | Edit settings, prepare data, train, inspect, approve, and select an assistant candidate. |
| Build / Export | Build the open Chronicle workspace in a separate process, or build and export its verified pure-Perl distribution. See Build and export. |
Help shortcuts
- F1 opens Help or summarizes the current Help topic.
- Ctrl+F focuses Help search.
- Search uses topic titles, section names, summaries, keywords, and article text.
- Clear the search field to return to the five-section contents.
Keep the distinction clear: a Chronicle workspace records project and review state; a
.vfsbin is the built image; a generated Perl distribution is the exported runtime package.
