The global push to build datacenters for artificial intelligence will generate a wave of discarded servers and networking gear, according to a new report released on Tuesday by researchers.

The report estimates millions of tonnes of electronic waste by the end of the decade, much of it containing valuable metals that are rarely recovered today.
