Privacy policy

marktplaats-mcp is an open source MCP server. This page covers both the hosted endpoint at ${SITE_URL}/mcp and the local server installed from PyPI.

Hosted endpoint

• It only offers the read-only tools (search, listing details, seller profiles, categories, filters, price statistics, new-listing monitoring). It never accepts, stores or uses Marktplaats account credentials or session cookies.
• Tool arguments (your search terms, postcode, listing ids) are forwarded to marktplaats.nl or 2dehands.be to answer the request and are not stored beyond standard, short-lived web server logs (timestamp, IP address, request path, status code) used to keep the service running and rate-limited.
• No analytics, no advertising, no tracking cookies, no affiliate links. Listing URLs are returned exactly as the marketplaces publish them.
• The server runs in the European Union (Hetzner, Germany).

Local server

• Runs on your own machine; requests go directly from your computer to marktplaats.nl / 2dehands.be.
• If you run marktplaats-mcp login, your marketplace session cookie is read from your browser and stored only in a private file on your computer (~/.config/marktplaats-mcp/session.json, readable by your user only). It is sent only to the marketplace itself. marktplaats-mcp logout deletes it.
• Actions taken on your account (messages sent, bids placed, favorites changed) are appended to a local audit log (~/.local/state/marktplaats-mcp/writes.jsonl) so you can always review what your agent did. Nothing is sent to the project's authors.
