# goldsluice

A planned package for **reducing raw digitized pulses**: taking waveforms from a detector and producing scalar
quantities (reduced quantities, "RQs"), stored together with the pulses so that they can be analysed side by side.

**Status: placeholder, not yet developed.** This release (0.0.1) contains no code. It reserves the name. Nothing has
been designed beyond the idea, which includes the possibility of writing the fast part in Rust.

*goldsluice* would be the reduction half of a pair with [goldpan](https://pypi.org/project/goldpan/), the analysis
package: goldsluice sorts the raw material in bulk, and goldpan looks carefully at what it delivers (and can send
selections and templates back). Until then, the analysis library is developed in the `python/` folder of
[NSDF-Data](https://github.com/villano-lab/NSDF-Data).
