Bundled BEAST jars
------------------
beastxpy/tools/jars/beast-1.10.4.jar and beast-10.5.0.jar are the *unmodified
official release artifacts* from the BEAST project. They are byte-for-byte
copies of lib/beast.jar in the upstream distributions:

* BEAST v1.10.4

BeastXPy has not modified the BEAST source code in these jars. The
corresponding upstream source is available from
https://github.com/beast-dev/beast-mcmc at tags v1.10.4 and v10.5.0.

BEAST is free software distributed under the GNU Lesser General Public
License, version 2.1 (LGPL-2.1-only). The jars retain their upstream
META-INF/LICENSE.txt and META-INF/NOTICE.txt entries.

The Java source files under beastxpy/tools/ (BeastXValidator.java and the
bxpshim parser) are part of BeastXPy and are distributed under the same
LGPL-2.1-only terms as the BEAST classes they link against. The compiled
validator classes in beastxpy/tools/classes/ were built from those project
files against the bundled official jars with
``python beastxpy/tools/build_jars.py --skip-ant``; they are not part of the
official BEAST artifacts. The build manifest records the exact jar SHA-256
used for each version.

The bundled BEAST libraries are used for local validation only. Refer to the
upstream project for their citation and licensing terms.
