# One person, one line.
#
# Git records whatever `user.name` and `user.email` were set to on the
# machine that made the commit, so a project worked on from several
# machines accumulates several identities for the same person. This file
# is git's own mechanism for saying which are the same, and it changes
# nothing about the commits -- `git shortlog`, `git log --use-mailmap`
# and `git blame` read it; the history is untouched.
#
# Note what it does NOT do: GitHub's contributors graph is built by
# matching a commit's author email against the emails registered on a
# GitHub account, and GitHub's documentation for that graph makes no
# mention of .mailmap. Addresses that can never be registered --
# `review@localhost`, and the `user@hostname` form git invents when
# `user.email` is unset -- therefore stay unlinked on GitHub until the
# commits themselves are rewritten. See MAILMAP-NOTES.md.

# Canonical name for every commit made under this address.

# The university address. Real and deliverable, so adding it to the GitHub
# account links its commits there as well as here.

# Git's fallback when `user.email` was not configured on the Mac: it
# invents `user@hostname`. Not a deliverable address.

# A misconfigured environment -- `user.name=Review`, `user.email=review@localhost`.
# It authored five commits in August and committed four more that Derrick
# authored; under this mapping those four keep Derrick as their author and
# gain Adekunle Aina as their committer, which is what running the commit
# means.
Adekunle Aina <kunleaina@gmail.com> Review <review@localhost>

# Two display names on one GitHub account.
