# kopitehnik-converter-mcp

<!-- mcp-name: io.github.ildargiv/kopitehnik-converter -->

An MCP (Model Context Protocol) stdio bridge to **KopiTehnik Converter** — a free
AGPL-3.0 Windows app for photo labs: batch conversion, colour correction, print
sheets, PDF editing with local scan recognition, and printing.

The app already speaks MCP itself (`Converter.exe --mcp`). This package only adds
a package-manager-installable entry point: it finds the installed executable and
hands it the inherited stdin/stdout. No protocol code is duplicated, and nothing
is printed to stdout by the wrapper.

## What the agent can do

`app_info`, `list_files`, `inspect_file`, `convert`, `make_sheet`, `preview`,
`pdf_info`, `pdf_get_text`, `pdf_find_text`, `pdf_edit`, `pdf_pages`,
`list_printers`, `print_files`.

Results are verified by numbers (sizes, brightness, contrast) and extracted PDF
text, so no screen or vision is needed. `print_files` supports `dry_run` (counts
sheets only) and `printer: "pdf"` (writes a file instead of printing), and source
files are never modified.

## Requirements

* Windows (the print path is Windows-only).
* [KopiTehnik Converter](https://github.com/ildargiv/kopitehnik-converter/releases/latest)
  installed, or a source checkout with `app.py`.

## Install

Claude Desktop — add to `claude_desktop_config.json`:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "kopitehnik-converter": {
      "command": "uvx",
      "args": ["kopitehnik-converter-mcp"]
    }
  }
}
```

Any MCP client that runs stdio servers works the same way:

```
uvx kopitehnik-converter-mcp
```

## Troubleshooting

```bash
uvx kopitehnik-converter-mcp --where
```

prints which executable would be launched. If the app lives in a non-standard
folder, set `KOPITEHNIK_CONVERTER_EXE` to the full path of `Converter.exe`.

## Example prompts

* "Convert this folder to JPG, fix the colour, lay the photos out on 10x15 sheets and tell me how many sheets you got."
* "Read the text out of this scanned PDF and save it to Word."
* "Print three copies of each photo as A4 contact sheets — dry run first."

## Licence

The wrapper is a thin launcher distributed under the GNU AGPL-3.0, the same
licence as KopiTehnik Converter. See
[LICENSE](https://github.com/ildargiv/kopitehnik-converter/blob/main/LICENSE).
