PyCForge 1.3.54 — File icons, menu access and Help navigation
Prepared 2026-10-21 from CC's verified 1.3.53 source archive.

REQUESTED CHANGES

Directory trees in the shared open/save dialog now distinguish .py, .pcfproj
and .c files using white folded-page badges. The steel-blue marks are a grid
for Python, an eye for project bundles and a C for C source. The existing
.pcfproj extension is retained. Suffix matching is case-insensitive. Folders
and other files retain their existing icons. Badges are rendered in Qt at
multiple native sizes and are cached; no extra image library is required.

The Tools strip no longer paints a surrounding disabled-menu selection box.
Blank space around and between the real buttons no longer propagates mouse
clicks into the menu bar's spacer action. The wrench still opens Tools, its
adjacent arrow opens recent scan results, and the warning button opens current
conversion diagnostics. The warning button intentionally remains disabled
when no current conversion errors are available. Stale results stay guarded.

Tools now uses Alt+O, matching T&ools and avoiding the existing Alt+T Transpile
mnemonic. The tooltip, Python-check Help and shortcut table agree.

Each Help category has an icon to the left of its heading. The duplicate
brand mark beside the Help Close button is removed; the title-bar brand
remains. Full category titles are available as tooltips in narrow sidebars.
Help prose remains concise, with a file-badge key added to the workspace page.

VALIDATION

Environment: Linux, Python 3.12, PySide6/Qt 6.12.0 with offscreen rendering.
Native Windows/macOS interaction was not available for this verification.

Final targeted suite: 113 tests passed and 589 subtests passed. This includes
file choosers and previews, Tools/recent scan actions, full Python-check dialog,
conversion diagnostic freshness and navigation, Help, title-bar controls,
UI scaling, release contracts, and all 16 file/session regressions from 1.3.53.
Four focused interaction cases cover clicking strip gaps before opening Check
Python Code, diagnostic navigation, and the Tools keyboard shortcut.

An initial combined test run exposed a test-fixture cleanup problem: a shown
standalone startup preview was awaiting deferred deletion and remained modal
for the next test. Its existing fixture now flushes deferred deletion. The
entire targeted suite then passed together; startup product code is unchanged.

Actual Qt dialogs were rendered and visually reviewed. The file provider was
checked through QFileSystemModel, including uppercase .PY. File badges were
rendered at 100% and 200% device pixel ratios. Help category icons and the
single title-bar logo were checked. The source includes a repeatable visual
review script, tools/review_ui_1_3_54.py (pass an output directory).

PRESERVATION AND RELEASE

The file/project save, close, restore and startup-state implementation from
1.3.53 is byte-identical. File chooser modifications only affect displayed
icons and their size. All 144 converter files are byte-identical to 1.3.53.
Runtime dependencies, package entry points and archive format are unchanged.

README changes only its version heading to 1.3.54. The four approved image
URLs, their positions and widths, and README prose remain unchanged.
AGENTS.md and PyCForge-README-Guidelines.txt are byte-identical and included.
The existing 504 raster icon assets remain; new file badges use Qt drawing.

The final downloadable copy of this report appends exact package hashes,
distribution checks and installed-wheel verification after packaging.
CC alone publishes PyCForge to PyPI from CC's own computer.

WINDOWS CHECK

Install from the downloaded wheel's folder:
py -m pip install --upgrade .\pycforge-1.3.54-py3-none-any.whl

Confirm 1.3.54. Check the file badges in Open Python, Open Project, Save Project
As and Save Generated C. Click blank space around the top Tools buttons, then
open Check Python Code using the wrench. Alt+O should open Tools. With a
current conversion error, the warning button should open its diagnostic list
and selecting an enabled row should navigate to the source. Confirm Help
category icons and the absence of the duplicate logo beside Close.
