Play a short sound to send data to a nearby OVOS device — no network needed. The device needs the ggwave listener installed and turned on, and its microphone needs to hear this speaker.
- Anything within earshot of the speaker can hear it, including other people's devices. Do not send anything you would not say out loud.
- The receiving device only acts on this if its ggwave listener is enabled. If nothing happens, that is probably why.
- A Wi-Fi password sent this way is sent as sound, in the clear, to anyone listening.
Device listening
The receiving device only acts on a sound if its ggwave listener is turned on. The listener is off by default: anything within earshot could otherwise trigger the device. Turn it on only while you send something.
For safety the device stops listening on its own after the time you pick.
You can also turn the listener on or off by voice — say "enable ggwave" or "disable ggwave". The always-on and default-timeout behavior live in the ovos-audio-transformer-plugin-ggwave configuration, as start_enabled and listen_timeout.
What to send
Advanced
Sends an empty bus message of this type. No data, just the trigger.
Sends the full serialized message. This is the general-purpose carrier — anything the bus can express can be sent this way.
