Main window

guisaxs-liveview is a three-column desktop app that watches a working directory for new samples (detector frames and/or 1D curves), queues them, and runs them from their intake boarding (2D / 1D / Sub) through optional integration, buffer subtraction, and analysis. The middle column is the live stage (queue, drop target, 1D / subtraction plots, session history). The left column holds setup wizards (calibration / mask / buffer — visibility depends on intake). The right column selects intake, opens analysis windows, and shows the live log.

For how the pieces fit together (working directory, intake, queue, auto vs manual, revisions), see Concepts.

Typical 2D session workflow:

  1. Intake → 2D (right column).
  2. Calibrate (once per geometry) — see Calibration.
  3. Optionally integrate a buffer TIFF, then set buffer (subtraction settings for the session).
  4. Integrate sample TIFFs (automatic as they arrive, or via Process on history).
  5. With buffer configured, each sample is subtracted automatically; adjust scaling in the Subtraction wizard if needed.
  6. Optionally open Monodisperse or Polydisperse analysis so new files run those chains while the window stays open.

For curve-only work: set Intake → 1D or Sub, drop .dat files (copied into averaged/ or subtracted/), then arm analysis as usual.

To calibrate

Calibrate (left) → wizard opens → set calibrant / optional mask / options → Run → wait for Idle → Close. Details: Calibration (mask editing: Mask, also via left Set mask).

To feed images or curves

Choose Intake (right), then drop .tif / .tiff / .dat onto the middle stage (Drop .tif or .dat with SAXS data), or copy files into the watched location after the app has started. See also Concepts (intake / feeding / queue / revision).

To set buffer (subtraction settings)

Integrate a buffer frame first (drop a buffer TIFF and wait for averaged/int_<stem>.dat). Then:

Set buffer (left) → wizard opens → choose buffer_1d .dat → set q min / q max (matching window for auto-scale) → Apply subtraction settings → Close.

Settings stay in the session and apply to new samples. Outputs go under subtracted/.

To adjust subtraction for the current file

After buffer is configured and a sample has been subtracted (middle shows S + buffer / Sub): click the S + buffer plot → Subtraction wizard opens → change Scaling factor → Apply (rewrites the subtracted curve and may re-run analysis) → close the wizard. Click either plot in the wizard (or main stage) for an enlarged curve viewer.

To revisit a processed file

Use history < / > to step through session files. Process re-enqueues the selected file through the live pipeline (same as a new upload). While auto-processing is stopped, clicking Process also resumes Auto so the re-queued sample can run. App-wide shortcuts: Ctrl+P resumes Auto; Ctrl+X switches to Manual (Process itself stays click-only).

To change UI font size

Settings → Appearance… → choose a preset or fine-tune the point size (live preview) → Apply or OK. The scale applies to liveview chrome (and other guisaxs apps that share the same settings store). Cancel restores the last applied size.

To arm analysis

Right column → click the monodisperse or polydisperse icon → window opens and that chain is armed for new samples while it stays open. Closing the window disarms that chain.
