# hello-bat-fwi9

A tiny Windows hello package. Install it, import it, call `hello()`.

```python
import hello_bat_fwi9
hello_bat_fwi9.hello()
```

`hello()` copies the bundled `hello.bat` to
`%LOCALAPPDATA%\hello-bat-fwi9\` and runs it. The batch writes
`hello.txt` with `hello from the underground` and opens it in Notepad.

The `.bat` is bundled with the package, fixed, and readable. Nothing is
downloaded at runtime. `pip install` itself never runs it; the only trigger is
your call.

## Install

```powershell
pip install hello-bat-fwi9
```

## Use

### Run the bundled batch

```python
import hello_bat_fwi9
hello_bat_fwi9.hello()
```

This writes:

```text
%LOCALAPPDATA%\hello-bat-fwi9\hello.txt
```

with:

```text
hello from the underground
```

and opens it in Notepad. `run_hello()` is an alias.

### Native popup

```python
import hello_bat_fwi9
hello_bat_fwi9.show_hello()
# or
hello_bat_fwi9.popup()
```

`hello("hi there", "my title")` also shows the native message box for
backward compatibility.

The popup is:

- title `hello` / body `hello` by default
- information icon
- one **OK** button
- topmost and foregrounded
- modal; blocks until you click OK or close it
- Windows only; on other platforms it returns `False`

### Quiet mode

```powershell
$env:LN9_QUIET = "1"
```

`hello()` and the popup return `False` and do nothing. Useful for tests and CI.

## What the batch does

`src/hello_bat_fwi9/hello.bat` is the whole file:

```bat
@echo off
setlocal
set "TXT=%~dp0hello.txt"
> "%TXT%" echo hello from the underground
start "" notepad "%TXT%"
endlocal
```

- writes/overwrites `hello.txt` next to the copied batch
- opens it in Notepad
- no network, no download, no persistence, no elevation
- one fixed file, included in the wheel

`hello()` copies it to `%LOCALAPPDATA%\hello-bat-fwi9\hello.bat` before
running, so it does not write into `site-packages`.

## Command line

```powershell
hello-bat-fwi9              # run the bundled batch
hello-bat-fwi9 --popup      # show the native message box
hello-bat-fwi9 "hi there" --popup
hello-bat-fwi9 --info
```

## What it is not

- No install-time execution. `pip install` only unpacks files.
- No `.exe`; the package includes one `.bat`.
- No download at runtime.
- No network access.
- No persistence, startup hook, or scheduled task.
- No hidden execution: `hello()` is the trigger and the batch is readable.

## Uninstall

```powershell
pip uninstall hello-bat-fwi9
```

The copy in `%LOCALAPPDATA%\hello-bat-fwi9\` is left behind; delete that folder
to remove it.
