Inspect a Job in the GUI

Complete the local workflow tutorial first. The GUI can display the same recorded jobs; a scientific GUI extension is not needed just to inspect an existing job.

Install caddforge-gui into that environment and start from the tutorial directory:

python -m pip install caddforge-gui
caddforge gui --host 127.0.0.1 --port 8000 --registry-path runs/job_registry.sqlite

Open the printed URL. In the jobs dashboard, search for the tutorial's printed job ID or tool name, select the matching job, and inspect its recorded status and details. For a large registry, use filters and page navigation. Compare the displayed ID and status with caddforge status <job-id> in another terminal.

A missing job usually means the server is reading a different registry. Keep the registry path explicit and use the original tutorial directory. Output links and available tool panels depend on the installed packages and their GUI extensions; do not assume every scientific tool has a custom panel.

Stop the server with Ctrl+C when finished. For remote use, configure an appropriate host and protected network route; see security guidance. The docs server and GUI are separate processes. Continue with GUI extension authoring if you are adding a tool interface.
