Research Use and Deployment Notice

Software license

NLPMed Portal is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3 or later.

This notice does not modify the AGPL or impose additional restrictions on the rights it grants. The complete license distributed with the source code controls.

The official license is also available from the GNU Project.

Intended purpose

NLPMed Portal is research software for clinical natural language processing, annotation, and model-evaluation workflows.

It has not been designed, validated, certified, or approved as a medical device or clinical decision-support system. No representation is made that its outputs are suitable for diagnosis, treatment, patient management, or other clinical decisions.

Deployment responsibility

Each deployment is independently operated. Deployment administrators are responsible for authentication, access control, network security, database security, encryption, backups, monitoring, institutional approvals, and compliance with applicable policies and laws.

Distribution under the AGPL does not represent certification of compliance with HIPAA, GDPR, institutional policy, or another regulatory framework.

Sensitive data and external integrations

NLPMed Portal can process clinical text and other potentially sensitive information. Administrators should determine whether their deployment is appropriate for regulated data and apply the safeguards required by their institution and applicable law.

Some features can communicate with externally configured NLP, LLM, database, email, cloud, or model services. Administrators are responsible for reviewing those integrations and understanding where submitted data may be processed or stored.

External resources

Separately distributed models, datasets, APIs, hosted demonstrations, and third-party services may have their own licenses, access requirements, and terms. Those terms apply independently.

Warranty and liability

The software is provided without warranty under the terms stated in the AGPL. See sections 15 and 16 of the license for the applicable warranty disclaimer and limitation of liability.
