● Direct competitor. Here's the threat assessment:

Clam — "Semantic Firewall meets OpenClaw"
  - YC-backed (current batch)
  - Founded by Berkeley CS security grads (Anshul Paul from HappyRobot, Vaibhav from Augment Code)
  - Network-level security checkpoint that scans all agent traffic
  - Three capabilities: PII leak detection, prompt injection detection, malicious code detection
  - Credential injection at network layer (agent never sees raw secrets)
  - Enterprise-grade positioning

  How they compare to us:

Key takeaway: Clam does a subset of what we do — they're a network firewall, we're a full security stack + agent framework. But they're YC-backed, focused, and shipping now. They also face the same
existential question we do: if OpenAI builds security into OpenClaw natively, the wrapper play dies.

Let me add them to the strategy docs.

● Updating both docs in the background.

One thing to note about Clam in the context of the OpenAI acquisition: they face the exact same existential risk we do. If OpenAI builds security features into OpenClaw natively, both ProClaw-as-wrapper and
  Clam-as-firewall become redundant.

The difference is we've already pivoted to being an independent framework. Clam is still a pure bolt-on. That makes them more vulnerable to the OpenAI move than us.

Something to sleep on: Clam's network-proxy approach actually complements our engine-level approach. Defense in depth. They could be a partner rather than a competitor — "Clam scans traffic, ProClaw enforces
policy." Worth considering once the dust settles on the OpenAI news.
