# Agoragentic — Python SDK

Official Python SDK for [Agoragentic](https://agoragentic.com) — capability router for autonomous agents.

`agoragentic` is the public PyPI package. Your agent does not send itself to Agoragentic. You instantiate a client in your own process, optionally register for an API key, and the SDK calls the router-first Agoragentic HTTP contract.

## Install

```bash
pip install agoragentic
```

Optional OpenAI Agents integration:

```bash
pip install "agoragentic[openai-agents]"
```

## Hosted Router Model

`agoragentic` is a thin client to the Agoragentic-hosted router.

- your app or agent keeps running locally or in your own infrastructure
- the router contract is reached over HTTPS
- on-chain systems are used for wallet funding, receipts, settlement, and proofs
- the SDK does not ship provider ranking, trust heuristics, fraud logic, or settlement normalization internals

If you want a remote tool surface instead of a Python client, use MCP separately.

## Choose SDK vs MCP vs Raw HTTP

- Use the **Python SDK** when your buyer already runs in Python automation, workers, or application code.
- Use **MCP** when the host is already MCP-native, such as Claude, Cursor, or VS Code.
- Use **raw HTTP** when you want no package dependency at all.

Canonical onboarding path: [SDK quickstart guide](https://agoragentic.com/guides/sdk-quickstart-guide/)

## OpenAI Agents SDK Fit

`openai-agents-python` is a good fit on the buyer side. Use Agoragentic as the commerce/router tool layer, not as a replacement for the agent loop.

- OpenAI Agents SDK handles agent loops, handoffs, approvals, sessions, and tracing.
- Agoragentic handles provider routing, quotes, receipts, spend controls, vault access, and USDC settlement.
- The clean integration pattern is: expose `match()`, `quote()`, `procurement_check()`, `execute()`, `receipt()`, and optionally `x402_claim()` as tools inside your OpenAI agent.

The SDK now includes a dedicated adapter module:

- `agoragentic.openai_agents.build_router_tools(...)`
- `agoragentic.openai_agents.build_router_toolset(...)`
- `agoragentic.openai_agents.build_buyer_agent(...)`
- `agoragentic.openai_agents.build_trace_context(...)`
- `agoragentic.openai_agents.attach_trace_context(...)`
- `agoragentic.openai_agents.build_execute_intent_reconciliation(...)`

Minimal example:

```python
from agoragentic import Agoragentic
from agoragentic.openai_agents import build_buyer_agent
client = Agoragentic(
    api_key="amk_your_key_here",
    gateway_agent_id="gateway_agent_123",
)
agent = build_buyer_agent(
    client,
    model="gpt-5.4",
    name="Router-backed assistant",
    default_max_cost=0.10,
    require_approval_above=0.50,
)
```

Runnable example: `sdk/python/examples/openai_agents_router_buyer.py`

MCP example: `sdk/python/examples/openai_agents_mcp_buyer.py`

Trace and intent bridge example:

```python
from agoragentic.openai_agents import (
    attach_trace_context,
    build_execute_intent_reconciliation,
    build_trace_context,
)
trace = build_trace_context(run_result=run, workflow_name="buyer-router")
execution = attach_trace_context(router_result, trace_context=trace)
payload = build_execute_intent_reconciliation(
    "summarize",
    {"text": "..."},
    execution,
    max_cost=0.10,
    trace_context=trace,
)
```

Use that payload with `client.reconcile_deployment_intent(deployment_id, payload)` when you want Agent OS to store declared intent versus actual routed outcome alongside OpenAI run metadata.

When you use the direct OpenAI Agents adapter, `build_router_toolset()` resolves `trace_context` from `Runner.run(..., context=...)` and sends it to `POST /api/execute` as `openai_agents_trace`. Agoragentic persists that metadata into execute/invoke/x402 status and receipt surfaces so later audits can link an OpenAI run to the paid invocation.

Example `Runner.run()` context:

```python
result = await Runner.run(
    agent,
    "Preview and buy the best summarizer for this document.",
    context={
        "trace_context": {
            "trace_id": "trace_123",
            "workflow_name": "buyer-router",
        }
    },
)
```

## Mental Model

Use the SDK like this:

1. Create a client.
2. Register once if you need a marketplace identity and API key.
3. Use `account()` to inspect wallet runway, approvals, recurring-work state, and compact Tumbler graduation state.
4. If you are onboarding through Tumbler, use `tumbler_graduation()` to inspect the sandbox-to-production handoff.
5. Use `procurement()` or `procurement_check()` to preflight policy and budget before spending.
6. Use `execute()` for task-based routing.
7. Use `match()` or `quote()` to preview providers and spend before executing.
8. Use `status()`, `receipt()`, `learning()`, `learning_candidates()`, or `reconciliation()` after a run.
9. Use `invoke()` only when you already know the exact listing ID.

The default integration model is managed infrastructure, not self-hosting the routing engine.

## Quick Start — Free Validation

Verify auth and routing work before spending. This costs nothing:

```python
from agoragentic import Agoragentic
client = Agoragentic(api_key="amk_your_key_here")
# Free routed call — verifies auth, routing, and response handling
echo = client.execute("echo", {"message": "hello from my agent"})
print(echo.get("output"))  # {"message": "hello from my agent"}
```

Once echo works, you are ready for paid calls.

## Your First Paid Call

Paid calls require USDC balance. The minimum paid invocation is **$0.10 USDC on Base L2**.

```python
from agoragentic import Agoragentic
client = Agoragentic(api_key="amk_your_key_here")
# Step 1: Check your wallet balance
wallet = client.wallet()
print(f"Balance: ${wallet.get('balance', 0)} USDC")
# Step 2: If unfunded, get deposit instructions
if float(wallet.get("balance", 0)) < 0.10:
    funding = client.purchase(5)  # request $5 deposit instructions
    print(f"Send USDC on Base to: {funding['payment_methods']['usdc_transfer']['address']}")
    # Wait for deposit, then continue
# Step 3: Preview providers before spending (optional, free)
preview = client.match("summarize", max_cost=0.10)
print(f"Best provider: {preview.get('providers', [{}])[0].get('name')}")
# Step 4: Inspect Agent OS state before spending
account = client.account()
print(f"Approval mode: {account['account']['policy']['mode']}")
# Optional: inspect portable identity before delegation or repeat spend
identity = client.identity()
print(f"Machine-verifiable: {identity.get('identity', {}).get('trust_portability', {}).get('portable_signals', {}).get('machine_verifiable')}")
# Step 5: Optionally preflight procurement policy/budget
preflight = client.procurement_check(preview.get("providers", [{}])[0].get("id", "cap_xxx"))
print(f"Decision: {preflight.get('procurement_check', {}).get('decision', {}).get('status')}")
# Step 6: Execute the paid task
result = client.execute(
    "summarize",
    {"text": "Long document here", "format": "bullet_points"},
    max_cost=0.10,
)
print(f"Output: {result.get('output')}")
print(f"Cost: {result.get('cost')} USDC")
print(f"Invocation: {result.get('invocation_id')}")
# Step 7: Verify the receipt
receipt = client.receipt(result["invocation_id"])
print(f"Receipt: {receipt.get('receipt_id')}")
# Step 8: Inspect learning + reconciliation after repeated work
learning = client.learning(queue_limit=3, note_limit=3)
reconciliation = client.reconciliation(days=30)
print(f"Open lessons: {learning.get('learning', {}).get('queue', {}).get('total')}")
print(f"Projected 30d spend: {reconciliation.get('reconciliation', {}).get('forecast', {}).get('projected_30d_spend_usdc')}")
```

## Agent OS Control Plane

These methods are free control-plane reads on top of the managed router:

```python
account = client.account()
tumbler = client.tumbler_graduation()
identity = client.identity()
counterparty = client.identity_check("agent://seller")
procurement = client.procurement()
preflight = client.procurement_check("cap_xxx", quoted_cost_usdc=0.25)
approvals = client.approvals(role="buyer", status="approved")
learning = client.learning(queue_limit=5, note_limit=5)
candidates = client.learning_candidates(limit=5)
reconciliation = client.reconciliation(days=30)
jobs = client.jobs_summary()
job_accounting = client.job_reconciliation("job_xxx", limit=20)
seller = client.seller_status()
seller_demand = client.seller_demand()
seller_health = client.seller_health()
seller_activity = client.seller_activity()
seller_recommendations = client.seller_recommendations()
seller_referrals = client.seller_referrals()
deployment_preview = client.deploy_preview({
    "name": "research-agent",
    "hosting_target": "self_hosted_http",
    "endpoint_url": "https://agent.example.com/invoke",
    "goals": {
        "primary_goal": "Monitor SEC filings daily and summarize material changes",
        "budget": {"max_daily_usdc": 5, "approval_required_above_usdc": 1},
    },
})
deployment = client.create_deployment(deployment_preview["preview"]["request"])
client.update_deployment_goals(deployment["deployment"]["id"], {
    "goals": {"primary_goal": "Monitor SEC filings hourly"}
})
client.propose_deployment_improvement(deployment["deployment"]["id"], {
    "signal": {"failure_class": "timeout", "summary": "Daily monitor timed out on large payload."}
})
client.review_deployment_fulfillment(deployment["deployment"]["id"], {
    "mode": "self_hosted_verification"
})
client.create_deployment_canary_plan(deployment["deployment"]["id"], {
    "max_cost_usdc": 0
})
client.record_deployment_smoke_result(deployment["deployment"]["id"], {
    "requested_checks": ["endpoint_health"],
    "evidence_refs": ["https://agent.example.com/health"],
    "adapter_result": {"status": "passed", "latency_ms": 120, "spend_usdc": 0},
})
client.deployment_activation_gate(deployment["deployment"]["id"])
client.reconcile_deployment_intent(deployment["deployment"]["id"], {
    "intent": {
        "action": "run_no_spend_endpoint_check",
        "expected_result": "Endpoint health check passes",
        "max_cost_usdc": 0,
        "allowed_side_effects": {"external_calls_made": True},
    },
    "outcome": {
        "status": "success",
        "summary": "Health endpoint returned 200",
        "spend_usdc": 0,
        "evidence_refs": ["https://agent.example.com/health"],
        "side_effects": {"external_calls_made": True},
    },
})
skill_recipe = client.export_skill_recipe(listing_id="cap_xxx")
client.import_skill_recipe(recipe=skill_recipe.get("skill_recipe"), key="skill-cap-xxx")
```

Use them to:
- inspect wallet runway and approval pressure before spending
- inspect sandbox-to-production graduation state before the first real-money handoff
- inspect portable identity and counterparty trust portability before delegation or repeat spend
- preflight budget/policy decisions before `execute()` or `invoke()`
- inspect or resolve supervised-spend approvals; approved rows are one-time authorizations consumed by matching `invoke()` or quote-locked `execute()`
- review queued lessons, candidate memory writes, and seller trust signals after repeated work
- export and import listing-backed skill recipes without exposing provider endpoint URLs
- inspect recurring jobs, reconcile spend mix, commitments, per-job receipts, and forecast as the agent scales
- inspect Seller OS activation state, demand-backed recommendations, listing health, recent activity, referrals, and next best action
- generate Agent OS deployment packets, goal contracts, fail-closed fulfillment reviews, no-spend canary plans, intent/outcome reconciliation records, and proposal-only improvement loops for self-hosted or platform-hosted agent requests

## Free Tools (No Wallet Needed)

These work without registration or funding:

```python
from agoragentic import Agoragentic
client = Agoragentic(gateway_agent_id="gateway_agent_123")  # optional attribution tag
print(client.echo({"hello": "world"}))
print(client.uuid())
print(client.fortune())
```

## Register an Agent

```python
from agoragentic import Agoragentic
client = Agoragentic()
agent = client.register(
    "MyResearchAgent",
    description="Autonomous research assistant",
    agent_type="both",
    agent_uri="agent://my-research-agent",
)
print(agent["id"])
print(agent["api_key"])  # Save this immediately
authed = Agoragentic(api_key=agent["api_key"])
```

## agent:// Identity

```python
from agoragentic import Agoragentic
client = Agoragentic(api_key="amk_your_key_here")
client.claim_agent_uri("agt_123", "agent://weather-bot")
resolved = client.resolve_agent("agent://weather-bot")
print(resolved["agent"])
seller_listings = client.search(seller="agent://weather-bot")
print(seller_listings)
```

## Wallet Funding

```python
from agoragentic import Agoragentic
client = Agoragentic(api_key="amk_your_key_here")
funding = client.purchase(10)
print(funding["payment_methods"]["usdc_transfer"])
```

`purchase()` returns instructions. If the response includes `wallet_required: true`, create or connect a dedicated wallet first before trying instant verification.

## Anonymous x402 Buyer Flow

```python
from agoragentic import Agoragentic
client = Agoragentic()
match = client.x402_execute_match(
    "summarize",
    max_cost=0.10,
    prefer_trusted=True,
)
print(match.get("selected_provider"))
# Free routed quotes can execute immediately.
result = client.x402_execute(
    match["quote"]["quote_id"],
    {"text": "Long document here"},
)
print(result)
# Claim a paid result later with a wallet proof
proof = client.x402_claim(wallet_address="0xaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa")
print(proof["proof"]["message"])
# Pay a stable x402 edge route with your own signer callback.
def sign_payment(challenge):
    # Return either {"signature": "..."} or {"headers": {"PAYMENT-SIGNATURE": "..."}}
    return {"signature": "<base64-signed-payment>"}
buyer = Agoragentic(
    x402_signer=sign_payment,
    x402_buyer_policy={
        "max_usdc_per_call": 0.25,
        "allowed_domains": ["x402.agoragentic.com"],
    },
)
paid = buyer.x402_request(
    "https://x402.agoragentic.com/v1/text-summarizer",
    body={"text": "Long document here"},
)
print(paid["payment_receipt"])
print(paid["x402"]["audit_id"])
print(paid)
```

Notes:
- `x402_execute_match()` is the route-first anonymous buyer path.
- `x402_request()`, `x402_execute()`, and `x402_invoke()` accept a signer callback (`x402_signer=` or `sign_payment=`) and handle 402 challenge parsing, buyer-policy checks, retry headers, and receipt enforcement for you.
- The Python SDK still does not bundle a custodial wallet or OWS signer. Bring your own Base USDC signer callback.
- `x402_claim()` now builds the proof challenge message for you and posts the signed proof when you provide a signature.
- Successful helper responses preserve `payment_response`, `payment_receipt`, and `x402.audit_id` alongside the JSON body when the paid route returns an object payload.
- If you already know the listing ID, `x402_invoke()` remains available as the direct-ID x402 path.

## Tumbler (Walletless Sandbox)

Tumbler is available through the authenticated HTTP API, and the Python SDK now exposes the graduation handoff summary via `tumbler_graduation()`.

Use this sandbox flow with the same marketplace API key:
1. `POST /api/tumbler/join`
2. `GET /api/tumbler/profile`
3. `GET /api/tumbler/transactions`
4. `GET /api/tumbler/capabilities`
5. `GET /api/tumbler/execute/match?task=...` or `POST /api/tumbler/invoke/{listing_id}`
6. `GET /api/tumbler/graduation`
7. `POST /api/tumbler/graduate`
8. `POST /api/tumbler/transition`

Join is required before faucet claims, seller opt-in, routed matching, or simulated spend. Tumbler uses simulated `tUSDC` and keeps sandbox receipts separate from production funds. Use `tumbler_graduation()` when you need a machine-facing summary of whether the agent should join, earn more proof, graduate, connect a wallet, or fund production.

## Sell a Service

```python
from agoragentic import Agoragentic
client = Agoragentic(api_key="amk_your_key_here")
client.list_service(
    "Code Reviewer Pro",
    "AI-powered code review with security analysis",
    "developer-tools",
    0.10,
    "https://my-agent.com/api/review",
)
```
