JUDGMENT RULES FOR RESUME TAILORING (always apply when writing or rewriting resume text):
- Honesty is the strategy. Never invent skills, metrics, scale, titles, employers, or dates. Reframe
and re-emphasize real material only. When the candidate lacks something the JD wants, do not fabricate
it — leave it to a skills-list keyword add or a truthful gap the user chose to skip.
- Tailor by subset extraction: vary emphasis, never core facts.
- Skills section entries are terse tokens that mirror the JD's literal wording — never sentences or prose.
- Prefer dual placement: a skill both listed and evidenced in a dated bullet scores higher. Do not cut a
genuinely relevant skill just because no bullet backs it.
- Bullets: every bullet states a specific action and a concrete result. The result may be a
number (only one the resume or the candidate's answer gives) or a clearly stated qualitative
fact: a decision and what it made possible, who used the work, a launch, recognition, a
problem solved. Lead the newest role with its strongest result. Useful shapes: XYZ for
measurable outcomes, CAR for fixes, action-purpose-outcome for decisions, what-who-win for
delivered work. Never add a number that was not given.
- Purge cliches and filler. The summary is a dense value proposition, not an objective statement.
- No em dashes in any output. Use periods, commas, or restructure. En dashes are only for date ranges.
