The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the third leading cause of death. COPD exacerbations are often triggered by respiratory infections. Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is used for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Patients with OSA frequently have hypertension. The estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) was 45 mL/min/1.73 m2, consistent with chronic kidney disease (CKD) stage 3. CKD progression was slow. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain was unremarkable.
