Welcome

Not just what to play.
Where to bring it in.

Two records can share a tempo and a key and still wreck the mix — the kicks land on different sixteenths, or both singers arrive at once. Cuepoint scores your crate on seven things instead of two, then plays the transition back so you can check it by ear.

│ mix point │ bass swap · drag it │ playhead

Both records on one axis, lined up at the bar where one becomes the other. Colours are the phrase — intro, build, peak, breakdown, outro.

Beginner Plain English, a difficulty label on every blend, and the bars counted out along the grid.
Expert The seven scoring components as measured. Switch any time in the header.

The words, if they're new

BPMBeats per minute. Two records have to be at the same one to play together — the pitch fader closes the gap.
Key · 8BCamelot notation: a number 1–12 and a letter. Neighbours on that wheel sound good together, distant ones clash.
PhraseA section of a track — intro, build, peak, breakdown, outro. Mixing between them at the wrong point is what makes a transition collapse.
BarFour beats. Phrases are almost always a multiple of 8 or 16 bars, and DJs count in them.
Mix pointThe bar where the new record starts playing over the old one.
Bass swapHanding the low end over. Two kick drums at once turns to mud, so one deck stays cut until the other gives it up.
EQCutting a band so the records stop competing. Low is kick and bass, mid is vocals, high is hats.
FilterSweeping the top or the bottom of a deck out of the way.

In Beginner mode these appear throughout the app — anything with a dotted underline explains itself when you hover it.

How to use it

Six steps.

1

Pick the record that's playing. The list on the left. Search it, or filter to what's actually mixable — pitch range, Camelot key and genre.

2

Read the score. Every track rated 0–1. Beginner mode labels each one clean, needs EQ, tricky or advanced — start with the clean ones.

3

Take the mix point. Where to leave the outgoing record, where to come in on the new one, how many bars to run together, and the pitch fader move.

4

Hear it before you play it. Press ▶ on any result. The outgoing runs for eight bars, the incoming enters at its cue pitched to match, and they crossfade over exactly the bars chosen.

5

Shape it while it runs. Drag the lavender line to move where the bass changes hands. Cut lows, mids or highs on either deck, sweep the filter, or throw an echo timed to the bar. If a vocal is still going on the way out, it's held under the new record to finish rather than being cut.

6

Fix what clashes. Where a blend is weak the card names it — two kicks beating, two vocals at once, kicks on different sixteenths — and says which band to pull.

The ? in the header brings this back. The wordmark resets to a clean slate. Nothing here writes to your rekordbox library.
