# SimVX Physics Jolt

[Jolt Physics](https://github.com/jrouwe/JoltPhysics) as an opt-in 3D physics backend for SimVX,
on the desktop and in a web export. Most users want `simvx`, which includes it where a wheel
exists.

> **Pre-alpha.** SimVX publishes development releases only (`0.0.0.devN`) and is under active
> development; the API changes between builds. Once stable versions ship to PyPI, development
> builds continue on pypi.simvx.com.

## Install

```bash
pip install --pre simvx
```

Latest development build: add `--extra-index-url https://pypi.simvx.com/`.

## Use

Installing it changes nothing: SimVX keeps its built-in 3D backend until you choose Jolt, for one
subtree with `PhysicsRoot(backend="jolt")` or for the whole project with
`{"general": {"physics_backend": "jolt"}}` in `.simvx/config.json`. It is opt-in because
swapping the solver changes how a game plays. Jolt is 3D only.

Platforms: wheels for Linux x86_64 and aarch64, Windows x86_64, and macOS x86_64 and arm64; only
Linux x86_64 is tested. An x86_64 build needs no more than SSE4.2. The library is loaded through cffi's ABI mode and the wheel is tagged
`py3-none-<platform>`, so one wheel per platform serves every CPython 3.14 build, free-threaded
included.
