Release gate

The UI end-to-end gate was waived for this release: Publishing fix: PyPI trusted publishing failed since 2026-10-09 because the PyPI jobs ran in a reusable workflow; they now run in build-dmg.yml. Cut at the maintainer's direction (2026-10-14) before the full UI lanes on the post-482 merges finish.
