MEDDEID PRIVATE FINE-TUNING EXCEPTION
Version 1.0

This Exception is an additional permission under Section 7 of the GNU Affero
General Public License, version 3 only ("AGPL-3.0-only"). It applies only to
MedDeID software or model weights whose licence notice expressly states that
this Exception applies.

1. Private Training

You may train, retrain, adapt, or fine-tune MedDeID using private,
confidential, patient-sensitive, personal, or special-category health data
("Private Training Data"), provided that you have an independent lawful basis
and all necessary authorisations to process that data.

2. Confidentiality

To the extent that Sections 5, 6, or 13 of AGPL-3.0-only would otherwise
require the following material to be included in or provided with the
Corresponding Source, you are not required solely because of the MedDeID
licence to disclose or publish:

  a. Private Training Data;
  b. labels, annotations, prompts, evaluation material, logs, or other data
derived from Private Training Data where disclosure could reveal
personal, confidential, or legally restricted information; or
  c. model parameters or weights resulting from such training or fine-tuning
     ("Private Fine-Tuned Weights").

Private Fine-Tuned Weights may be kept confidential and may be used internally
or in providing a service through a computer network.

Private Training Data and Private Fine-Tuned Weights are not required to be
included in the Corresponding Source of MedDeID solely because they were used
with, or produced using, MedDeID.

3. Code Remains Subject to AGPL

This Exception applies only to Private Training Data and Private Fine-Tuned
Weights. It does not waive or limit AGPL-3.0-only for modifications,
adaptations, patches, extensions, or improvements to the MedDeID source code.

MedDeID code modifications remain subject to the ordinary requirements of
AGPL-3.0-only, including its requirements concerning distribution and remote
network interaction.

4. No Data-Protection Authorisation

This Exception concerns copyright and licensing only. It does not provide a
lawful basis for processing patient or personal data and does not replace any
requirement arising under data-protection law, medical confidentiality, ethics
approval, institutional policy, or contract.

5. Remaining Licence Terms

Except for the limited permissions expressly granted above, all terms of
AGPL-3.0-only remain unchanged and continue to apply.
