Map Tile Set¶
A Map Tile Set is an uploaded raster basemap for the Operational Map. Its MBTiles archive supplies imagery that Nautobot serves locally.
Add a basemap¶
- Ask the administrator to configure persistent private atlas storage using the Operational Map guide.
- Open Map Tile Sets and select Add.
- Enter a unique name, upload a raster
.mbtilesfile, and leave Active selected to offer it on the map. - Save, then open the Operational Map and select the basemap.
An active atlas must also have a ready Archive Status to appear in the map
selector. Status is a live readability/header check, not a full integrity scan.
If it is unavailable, restore the archive or upload a replacement. Administrators
can run nautobot-server check_map_storage in each service instance to diagnose
missing mounts, directory permissions, and unavailable files.
TRAX reads raster format, attribution, available zoom levels, and bounds from the archive. These values are displayed as metadata rather than entered separately. PNG, JPEG, and WebP raster archives are supported; vector archives need a different renderer and are rejected.
Viewing missions does not grant access to basemaps. Users need permission to view the specific tile set, including for archive downloads. Replacing an archive refreshes its metadata and tile-cache version. Deleting or replacing it removes the old file after a successful database commit when no record still references it.
