Setup Guide

1. Install the CA Certificate

To capture HTTPS traffic, you need to trust the mitmproxy certificate:

macOS/iOS:

  1. Download the certificate from http://mitm.it while connected to the proxy
  2. Open the downloaded .pem file
  3. Add it to your keychain and mark it as trusted

Android:

  1. Go to Settings → Security → Install certificate
  2. Select "CA certificate"
  3. Find and install the mitmproxy-ca-cert.pem file

Windows:

  1. Double-click the certificate file
  2. Select "Install Certificate"
  3. Choose "Trusted Root Certification Authorities"

2. Configure Your Device Proxy

Point your device to this proxy server:

Host: [Your server IP]
Port: {{ proxy_port }}

On iPhone/iPad:

  1. Settings → Wi-Fi → (i) next to your network
  2. Scroll down to "HTTP Proxy" → Manual
  3. Enter server IP and port {{ proxy_port }}

On Android:

  1. Settings → Wi-Fi → Long press your network → Modify
  2. Advanced options → Proxy → Manual
  3. Enter server IP and port {{ proxy_port }}

3. Start Monitoring

Once configured, open any messaging app (WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, etc.). The dashboard will start showing captured metadata in real-time.

⚠️ Privacy Notice: This tool captures metadata from your own traffic for privacy analysis. All data stays on your local machine. Never use this to monitor others without consent.
