    How to get your free Adzuna keys
                
      
                  
    1. Open developer.adzuna.com and register. It is free; for the website field your GitHub or LinkedIn profile is fine.

    2. Confirm the email Adzuna sends you, then log in.

    3. Your developer dashboard shows two values: Application ID (short, 8 characters) and Application Key (long, 32 characters).

    How to get your free TheirStack key
                
      
                  
    1. Open theirstack.com and sign up for free. Google sign in works.

    2. Open your account settings and find the API key section.

    3. Copy the key (a long text), paste it below and press Save changes.

    AI model
    The AI scores each job against your CV and writes your CV and cover letter. It only uses facts from your CV. Without one, scoring uses keywords and letters come from a template.
    
            
    
              
              
              
            
    
            
    Set up Ollama
      
              
    1. Download Ollama from ollama.com/download and install it like any app.
      2. 
              
    2. Open a terminal (on Windows: PowerShell) and run ollama pull qwen3.5:4b. On an older computer use ministral-3:3b; with 16 GB memory or more, qwen3.5:9b writes better.

    3. Put the same name in Model above, then press Save and test.
    
            
    Set up LM Studio
      
              
    1. Install LM Studio from lmstudio.ai and download a model inside it, for example Qwen3.5 4B.

    2. Open the Developer tab and start the server.

    Get a Claude API key
      
              
    1. Sign in at console.anthropic.com.
      2. 
              
    2. Add a little credit under Billing. A daily search usually costs a few cents.

    3. Open API keys, create a key, paste it below and press Save and test. Model claude-haiku-4-5-20251001 is fast and cheap.

    Gmail
    
          
    Stellenpilot can read your application emails and move jobs forward by itself: a confirmation to Applied, an invitation to Interview, a rejection to Rejected. It only reads. It never sends, deletes or labels mail.

    1. Install Gmail support
      A small add on from Google, installed once.

    2. Create your own Google key file
      Google wants every app that reads Gmail to have its own key. It takes about 10 minutes, once.

      1. Open console.cloud.google.com and create a project. Any name works, for example Stellenpilot.

      2. Go to APIs and Services, Library, search for Gmail API and press Enable.

      3. Go to OAuth consent screen. Choose External, fill in an app name and your email, and add your own Gmail address as a test user. Leave the app in Testing.

      4. Go to Credentials, Create credentials, OAuth client ID, type Desktop app. Press Download JSON.

    3. Connect your Gmail
      A Google page opens in your browser. Pick your account and allow read only access. Google warns that the app is not verified, because it is your own private app: press Advanced, then continue. In Testing mode Google asks again about once a week.
