Degree-preserving shuffle (null model): rewires edges while keeping each node's in-degree, out-degree and the multiset of weights.
Directed double-edge swap (Maslov & Sneppen 2002): replace edges (a→b, w1) and (c→d, w2) with (a→d, w1) and (c→b, w2). Pairs that would create self-loops or duplicate edges are discarded. The default of n_swaps is 10 × the number of edges. It preserves the degrees of the binary structure (weights travel with their edges, so strength can change). The diagonal (self-loops) is not moved and stays as is. With fewer than 2 edges, a copy is returned.
