Gmail
Stellenpilot can read your application emails and move jobs forward by itself: a confirmation to Applied, an invitation to Interview, a rejection to Rejected. It only reads. It never sends, deletes or labels mail.
Checking…
- Install Gmail support
A small add on from Google, installed once.
- Create your own Google key file
Google wants every app that reads Gmail to have its own key. It takes about 10 minutes, once.
Show me how
- Open console.cloud.google.com and create a project. Any name works, for example Stellenpilot.
- Go to APIs and Services, Library, search for Gmail API and press Enable.
- Go to OAuth consent screen. Choose External, fill in an app name and your email, and add your own Gmail address as a test user. Leave the app in Testing.
- Go to Credentials, Create credentials, OAuth client ID, type Desktop app. Press Download JSON.
- Choose that downloaded file with the button below.
- Connect your Gmail
A Google page opens in your browser. Pick your account and allow read only access. Google warns that the app is not verified, because it is your own private app: press Advanced, then continue. In Testing mode Google asks again about once a week.
