PMR / Journal of Retirement — submission package checklist
(Companion to jor_draft.tex; see PMR Article Submission Guidelines, March 1, 2023.)

PDF for upload
- Build: from papers/, run pdflatex, bibtex jor_draft, pdflatex x2.
- Embedded fonts: PMR asks for PDFs with fonts embedded. After building, run
`pdffonts jor_draft.pdf` (from TeX Live’s bin directory if needed). A “yes” in the
“emb” column means embedded. If any font shows “no”, adjust packages so text fonts
embed (Type1/CM or URW Times as in a normal pdflatex build usually embed).

Word counts (approximate; re-check before submitting)
- Abstract: target ~160 words (non-technical, no citations).
- Key takeaways: each item ≤40 words, 1–2 sentences.
- Main text: PMR target ~4,000 words excluding abstract, exhibits, and references.
A rough automated count stripping tabular/figure bodies was ~4,400 words — if you
need to hit 4,000 closely, trim narrative in case studies or implications.

Exhibits
- PMR requires underlying data for charts/tables at acceptance. Keep a spreadsheet (one
tab per chart/table per guidelines Appendix A) with the numeric values behind
  Exhibits in jor_draft.pdf.

Declaration / corresponding author
- Page 1 lists corresponding author (Martin-D. Lacasse). Confirm John Leonard’s
preferred contact line (e-mail or “available from corresponding author”) before final
submission if the journal requires full contact for every author.
