convex_mirror_misjudge — DRIVE pass op

• Data kinds: any × any → table

• Call: import fullseye as fs; fs.ledger.convex_mirror_misjudge(object_distance, speed, radius: 'float', *, eye_distance: 'float') -> 'Dict[str, object]' (to call the implementation directly, import drivepass; drivepass.convex_mirror_misjudge(object_distance, speed, radius: 'float', *, eye_distance: 'float') -> 'Dict[str, object]'; from the registry, opsdrive.get("convex_mirror_misjudge"))

Usage

Misjudgment when the distance and speed of a car seen in a convex mirror are read as if it were a flat mirror (paraxial closed form, arrays allowed). Scenarios S064, S130.

k = 1 + 2e/R. Distance (from size): â = k a. Speed has 3 readings:

speed_size_consistent = k v (reading the change of size consistently with the distance read from size → appears faster), speed_size_anchored = k v (e + a)²/(e + k a)² (reading it as the change of size of an object at the true distance a → slower when a > e/√k), speed_lateral_anchored = v (e + a)/(e + k a) (reading the angular speed of crossing motion at the true distance → slower). tau_apparent = (e + k a)/(k v) (ratio of size to its rate of change = apparent time to arrival), tau_true = a / v. Appearing farther (k > 1) does not depend on the reading, but appearing slower happens only when anchored to the true distance —— the 3 return values show this.
