Satellite¶
A Satellite record identifies a satellite or constellation used by Frequency Sets and SATCOM transport options.
Enter a satellite¶
- Open Satellites and select Add, or edit an existing catalog entry.
- Enter a unique name and optionally select its provider.
- Choose the appropriate orbit behavior below, then save.
| Satellite type | Geostationary checkbox | Orbit longitude |
|---|---|---|
| Fixed geostationary satellite | Checked | Required, in degrees |
| Non-geostationary satellite or constellation | Unchecked | Leave blank |
The checkbox is selected by default when creating a record. Clearing it is appropriate for a constellation without a fixed orbital longitude. The form rejects a fixed orbit longitude for a non-geostationary entry.
Mission look-angle calculations use geostationary satellites with the mission's deployment coordinates. TRAX does not calculate fixed pointing angles for non-geostationary entries. The bundled satellite catalog is reference data; confirm the satellite and service details used by your environment.
