# jupyter-mcp-live

An MCP server built into Jupyter Server: AI agents edit and run the notebooks
open in JupyterLab, with outputs streaming into cells live.

**This is a placeholder release. It contains no functionality yet.** The first
full release is coming soon.

What it will do:

- **Runs inside Jupyter Server.** No separate process or port: the MCP endpoint
is served at `{base_url}mcp` and uses Jupyter's own authentication, including
  JupyterHub.
- **Edits the notebook you have open.** Changes go through JupyterLab's
real-time collaboration document, so they appear in your browser as they
happen, without reloads, duplicated cells or lost edits.
- **Streams outputs live.** Long-running cells show progress in the notebook
  while they run.
- **Works with any kernel**: Python, R, Julia and others, reusing the kernel
JupyterLab already started for the notebook.
