# Slick

Turn Jinja prompts into ordinary Python functions that return typed results.
Slick renders the prompt, calls a provider, and validates the response. Your
application supplies the data and decides what to do next.

Requires Python 3.10 or newer:

```bash
pip install 'slick-ai[openai]'
```

## Documentation

- [Getting started](docs/src/getting-started.md)
- [How-to guides](docs/src/how-to.md)
- [API reference](docs/src/reference.md)
- [Concepts](docs/src/concepts.md)
- [Runnable examples](examples/README.md)

The docs use [mdBook](https://rust-lang.github.io/mdBook/).
[Install mdBook](https://rust-lang.github.io/mdBook/guide/installation.html) if
needed, then run from this checkout:

```bash
mdbook serve --open
```

Preview at <http://localhost:3000>; edits to `docs/src/` rebuild automatically.
To generate a static site:

```bash
mdbook build
```

Publish the contents of `book/` to your static host. This generated directory is
ignored by Git; edit the Markdown in `docs/src/` and chapter order in
`docs/src/SUMMARY.md`.

## Development

```bash
poetry install --with dev
poetry run pytest
poetry run ruff check slick tests examples
```
