set up solstone
your private agentic partner — sol
welcome
solstone is three things working together:
- observers — experience your day along with you, on each device
- sol — the agent that curates your memories
- your journal — the folder on your machine that holds everything
install gets you all three. the steps below set up sol; you'll add observers in step 4.
1. set a password
{{ init_password_hint | safe }}
this hash is stored in your journal and never transmitted
2. who are you?
optional — helps sol address you correctly.
3. connect gemini
optional — powers sol's thinking. gemini is the best-supported provider for full media processing. get a key at aistudio.google.com/apikey — or add other providers later in settings.
your key is stored locally in your journal config
get a private key from sol pbc by becoming a scout and providing feedback on your experience
please use a key tied to a billing account — Google Terms
4. observers
no observer connected yet — set up an observer to start observing along with you
5. your observed media (raw audio and screencast files)
by default, solstone retains your observed media so your journal can re-derive insights later. we recommend leaving this on. you can also expire originals after a number of days, or delete them as soon as they're processed. recording-consent laws may apply in your jurisdiction.
currently: always retain — no expiration
6. get started
solstone works best with a coding agent. open a terminal, navigate to your solstone directory, and ask it to help you set up:
cd {{ repo_path }} && claude "help me set up solstone"
cd {{ repo_path }} && codex "help me set up solstone"
