# MareArts MSYS

See the whole computer in one console: CPU (total, per core, user/system/iowait), memory
(cached, buffers …), GPUs, temperatures, fans, file systems, disk I/O per disk, network per
interface, connections, Docker containers, RAID, Wi-Fi, interrupts, alerts, battery and the
busiest processes. Windows, Linux and macOS.

```
pip install marearts-msys
msys                 # live console (h: keys)
msys -t 2            # live console reading every 2 s (0.5 to 60)
msys --once          # one reading
msys --json          # one reading as JSON
msys --tools         # tools for AI agents
msys --tool top_processes by=memory limit=5 name=python
msys --tool network          # interfaces, connections, Wi-Fi
msys --tool watch samples=10 interval=2       # follow over time, with min / avg / max
msys --tool console_view interval=5           # change what the live console shows
msys --mcp           # MCP server for AI apps (stdio)
```

Keys in the live console (`h` lists them all and shows what is on):

| | |
|---|---|
| sort | `c` CPU · `m` memory · `i` disk I/O · `t` CPU time · `a` name |
| view | `/` filter by name (Enter keeps, Esc clears) · `p` or space pause · `e` more detail · `-` read more often · `+` less often (0.5–60 s) · `0` default view · `q` quit |
| show / hide | `1` per-core CPU · `G` GPU · `s` sensors · `f` file systems · `d` disk I/O · `n` network · `k` connections · `D` containers · `R` RAID · `w` Wi-Fi · `Q` interrupts · `l` alerts · `z` processes |

What you show, the sort, "more detail" and the interval are kept for the next start; an AI
agent can change the same with `console_view` and a running console follows within one
reading. Reading faster costs CPU: on a PC with 900 processes MSYS itself uses about 31 % of
one core at 0.5 s, 20 % at 1 s, 5 % at 5 s. The screen follows the
terminal size: when it is short, the least needed parts step aside first, then every part
becomes one line so the process list still fits.

Temperatures and fans: Linux through the kernel sensors; macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel)
through IOKit and the SMC, without admin rights; Windows gives programs GPU and disk
temperatures only.

MSYS only reads the computer and never connects anywhere; the one file it writes is its own
console view (what is shown, the sort, the interval). Where an operating system does not let
programs read a sensor (for example CPU temperature on Windows without a kernel driver), MSYS
says so instead of showing a number.

Python 3.10 or newer on Windows (x64), Linux (x86_64, aarch64) and macOS (Apple Silicon and
Intel). Free to use for personal and business work — see the LICENSE file in the package.
