Interview P01 — 2024-03-12
Duration: 47 min
Format: video call (recorded with consent)

I: Tell me about the first week you worked from home full time.
P1: It was March 13, 2020. A Friday. I remember because I packed my plant up
from my desk thinking it'd be three weeks. The strange thing was I kept
my work clothes on for the first month. Like I needed the costume.
I: The costume?
P1: To feel like I was at work. Without that little signal — putting on the
blazer, walking to the train — I didn't know where the workday started.
My partner started making lunch at noon and that became the workday's
    rhythm marker instead.
I: How did boundaries with family work out?
P1: Badly at first. My kid would come into Zoom calls. I learned to lock the
door but it felt weird, like, my child was now an interruption when in
the office she would have been a story I told at 5pm.
