NOTICE - third party and trademark statements
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. No affiliation with NVIDIA.
Kernoscope is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed
by, sponsored by, or approved by NVIDIA Corporation. "NVIDIA", "CUDA",
"Nsight", "Nsight Compute" and "ncu" are trademarks or product names of
NVIDIA Corporation, used here only descriptively to indicate compatibility
or the format of data that Kernoscope reads.

2. NVBit is an OPTIONAL, EXTERNALLY INSTALLED dependency - it is NOT
   distributed with Kernoscope.
NVBit (https://github.com/NVlabs/NVBit) is licensed by NVIDIA under
   "LicenseRef-NvidiaProprietary", which prohibits redistribution. Kernoscope
does not bundle, vendor, or redistribute NVBit binaries, headers, or the
tools built from them. Users who want SASS-level instrumentation install
NVBit themselves and point Kernoscope at it. Tool binaries built from NVBit
(e.g. by the user, or by the Intra-Kernel Profiler project) are likewise
   not redistributed by Kernoscope.

3. Intra-Kernel Profiler (IKP) - design reference and optional integration.
Some region-level tracing design ideas and optional interoperability follow
the Intra-Kernel Profiler project by yao-jz
   (https://github.com/yao-jz/intra-kernel-profiler), licensed under the
Apache License, Version 2.0. No IKP source code is copied into Kernoscope at
this time; if it is, the attribution above and the Apache-2.0 NOTICE
   requirements apply.

4. Nsight Systems (nsys) and CUPTI are used through their official command
line interfaces / published APIs only. They are not bundled. Data read from
nsys SQLite exports is the user's own profiling data.

5. Data honesty policy (project rule, enforced by tests).
Every number Kernoscope prints carries a provenance label
(exact / derived / measured / estimated / unavailable). Metrics that would
require GPU hardware performance counters are reported as "unavailable"
with a reason, never as substituted values. See PROVENANCE.md.
