`iss-libs` is a Python meta-package that centralizes runtime dependencies shared by ISS-related projects.

## Overview

This repository provides the package metadata and dependency definitions used to publish `iss-libs` on PyPI. It targets Python `3.10+` and installs a broad set of libraries commonly used for:

- API and backend development
- Database access
- Modbus / serial / VISA communication
- Automation and Robot Framework workflows
- System utilities and networking

## Installation

Install from PyPI:

```bash
python3 -m pip install iss-libs
```

To upgrade an existing installation:

```bash
python3 -m pip install --upgrade iss-libs
```

Or install locally for development:

```bash
python3 -m pip install -e .
```

## Requirements

- Python `>= 3.10`
- `pip`

## Included Dependencies

The package currently declares dependencies such as:

> **Note:** Installing `iss-libs` installs all declared dependencies, including both `psycopg` and `psycopg2-binary`.

- **Database & Caching:** `sqlalchemy`, `alembic`, `psycopg`, `psycopg2-binary`, `redis`
- **Hardware, Instruments & Protocols:** `pyserial`, `pyModbusTCP`, `minimalmodbus`, `PyVISA`, `pyvisa-py`
- **Testing & Automation:** `robotframework`, `robotframework-sshlibrary`
- **Networking, HTTP & Remote Access:** `requests`, `httpx`, `paramiko`, `netifaces2`, `ntplib`, `python-gitlab`
- **Serialization, Data Parsing & Config:** `marshmallow`, `marshmallow_sqlalchemy`, `python-dotenv`, `xmltodict`

For the complete and authoritative list, see [setup.py](setup.py).

## Project Status

The repository currently acts as a dependency bundle (meta-package) and does not expose importable Python modules of its own.

## Contributing

Contributions are welcome. A good starting workflow is:

1. Fork the repository.
2. Create a feature branch.
3. Make your changes.
4. Test your changes locally.
5. Open a pull request with a clear description.
