aabb — 3D bounds op

• Data kinds: points → primitive

• Call: import fullseye as fs; fs.ledger.aabb(points) (to call the implementation directly, import pcseg; pcseg.aabb(points); from the registry, ops3d.get("aabb"))

Usage

Axis-aligned bounding box. Returns (min (3,), max (3,)).

Returns the minimum and maximum of each axis of the point cloud as is (P.min(0), P.max(0)). The return value is 2 (3,) float64 arrays, in order (xmin, ymin, zmin) and (xmax, ymax, zmax) (the axis order is the column order of the input). The box size is max - min, the center (min + max) / 2. The unit is the coordinate unit.

• points: shapes other than (N,3) raise ValueError, and an empty point cloud also gives ValueError (fail-closed).

• If a point contains NaN, min / max become NaN (no non-finite check).

Use: determining the region for voxelization (bounds of occupancy_grid / points_to_voxel), and comparison with obb (a box oriented by PCA). For elongated objects not aligned with the axes the AABB has a lot of slack, so use the extents of obb to estimate the grasp width.
