geometry op• Data kinds: points × primitive → measurement
• Call: import fullseye as fs; fs.ledger.distance_point_plane(p, plane_pt, n) (to call the implementation directly, import match3d; match3d.distance_point_plane(p, plane_pt, n); from the registry, ops3d.get("distance_point_plane"))
Point-to-plane distance (unsigned).
Returns |(p − plane_pt)·n̂| as a float (n is normalised internally). The sign is discarded, so if you need which side of the plane the point is on, compute (p − plane_pt) @ n̂ directly. p, plane_pt, n are numeric 2- or 3-vectors; mixed dimensions raise ValueError. In 2-D, n acts as the normal of a line and this becomes the point-line distance. A zero-vector n returns 0. Units are those of the input coordinates.
Uses: height above the plane of fit_plane_3d / hough_plane_3d, the point-cloud version of surface_form_error (the residual 1 point at a time).
