sinkhorn_divergence — COLORTRANSPORT transport op

• Data kinds: signal × signal × matrix → scalar

• Call: import fullseye as fs; fs.ledger.sinkhorn_divergence(a, b, cost, cost_aa=None, cost_bb=None, reg=0.05, **kw) (to call the implementation directly, import colortransport; colortransport.sinkhorn_divergence(a, b, cost, cost_aa=None, cost_bb=None, reg=0.05, **kw); from the registry, opscolortransport.get("sinkhorn_divergence"))

Usage

The debiased Sinkhorn distance (Genevay, Peyré & Cuturi, AISTATS 2018).

S(a,b) - (S(a,a) + S(b,b)) / 2. Because of the regularisation sinkhorn_distance is systematically biased upward, and its "distance" to itself is not 0 (measured: above 0.05 at reg=0.2 ). Subtracting the same bias via the distance to itself cancels it, and the value against itself returns to 0 -- exactly what TRIZ calls counterweight (cancelling with a counteraction).

cost_aa / cost_bb are the cost matrices between a and a and between b and b. Since this means comparing 1 point set with itself, if omitted, cost is reused only when it is square (omitting it with a non-square one is an exception -- filling in some arbitrary matrix would make the subtracted quantity something else, and a different bias would be added while you think you cancelled it).
