removal_depth_from_heights — DRIVE polish op

• Data kinds: image2d × image2d → image2d

• Call: import fullseye as fs; fs.ledger.removal_depth_from_heights(z_before, z_after, ref_mask=None, frame: 'float' = 0.1) -> 'np.ndarray' (to call the implementation directly, import polish; polish.removal_depth_from_heights(z_before, z_after, ref_mask=None, frame: 'float' = 0.1) -> 'np.ndarray'; from the registry, opsdrive.get("removal_depth_from_heights"))

Usage

Removed depth [height units, positive = removed] from height maps before and after polishing (placed on the same grid). Because remounting changes the tilt and height of the after map, a least-squares plane is fitted to the difference z_before − z_after over the "untouched" region (ref_mask, or else a border frame of fraction frame around the perimeter) and subtracted. Raises ValueError: shapes differ, not 2-D or non-finite, fewer than 3 reference pixels, frame outside (0, 0.5).

References (sample data, literature)

• Sample-data catalog (download URLs / licences) — 2-D uses skimage.data (BSD/public domain) plus synthetic images; 3-D lists download URLs for real data sources (Stanford, PDS, …).

• Operator provenance and references — the sources of the research/methods this op family came from.

• The canonical algorithm (author, year) and its uses are named in the family usage guide above.
