seg_boundary_membrane_gap — EMPROOF suspect op

• Data kinds: labels2d × image2d → table

• Call: import fullseye as fs; fs.ledger.seg_boundary_membrane_gap(labels, membrane, tau: 'float' = 0.2, min_len: 'int' = 60, normalize: 'bool' = True, ignore_zero: 'bool' = True) -> 'dict' (to call the implementation directly, import emproof; emproof.seg_boundary_membrane_gap(labels, membrane, tau: 'float' = 0.2, min_len: 'int' = 60, normalize: 'bool' = True, ignore_zero: 'bool' = True) -> 'dict'; from the registry, opsemproof.get("seg_boundary_membrane_gap"))

Usage

Suspected split: fraction of the boundary pixels between two adjacent labels whose membrane response is below tau. One row per adjacent pair.

Between cells there is always a membrane (a dark line). A boundary where the label changes without a membrane is the trace of a split that cut 1 cell into 2 (the straight line of seg_inject_split is exactly this). Pixels where different labels touch in the 4-neighbourhood are counted, and the membrane response of a boundary takes the stronger of the 2 sides. Prototype on CREMI sample A, artificial splits vs the rest: AUC 0.99 (tau 0.2, boundary length ≥ 60).

Columns: label_a / label_b (a < b) / length / gap_fraction / membrane_mean (descending by gap_fraction). Short boundaries under min_len px are not counted (a contact of a few pixels cannot say whether a membrane is there).

>>> table = seg_boundary_membrane_gap(labels, seg_membrane_response(raw))

>>> table["label_a"][0], table["label_b"][0], table["gap_fraction"][0] # the most suspicious pair
