mesh_slice_contours — PRINTPATH slice op

• Data kinds: mesh → table

• Call: import fullseye as fs; fs.ledger.mesh_slice_contours(mesh: 'Any', z: 'float', tol: 'float' = 1e-06) -> 'dict[str, np.ndarray]' (to call the implementation directly, import printpath; printpath.mesh_slice_contours(mesh: 'Any', z: 'float', tol: 'float' = 1e-06) -> 'dict[str, np.ndarray]'; from the registry, opsprintpath.get("mesh_slice_contours"))

Usage

Table of contours table obtained by cutting a triangle mesh with the plane z: columns ring (ring number), x, y (mm).

The intersection of each triangle with the plane becomes a segment, oriented by the triangle normal (outer contours counter-clockwise, holes clockwise), and endpoints are matched to join them into closed rings (open chains if they do not close) (the classic slicer). The signed area of a ring tells filled regions from holes. When a vertex lies exactly on the plane, it is lifted by tol to avoid degeneracy. If the plane does not touch the shape, ValueError (an empty layer is reported as "nothing there").
