descriptor_to_matrix — REPRCONV descriptor op

• Data kinds: descriptor → matrix

• Call: import fullseye as fs; fs.ledger.descriptor_to_matrix(descriptor) (to call the implementation directly, import reprconv; reprconv.descriptor_to_matrix(descriptor); from the registry, opsreprconv.get("descriptor_to_matrix"))

Usage

Descriptor → matrix. The exit from descriptor (invertible).

A 1-D descriptor (n,) becomes a 1-row matrix (1, n). A 2-D descriptor bundle ("points x dimensions", like the (12, 9) of sh_descriptor) passes through unchanged. This way mat_svd / mat_pinv / mat_cond can be applied to a descriptor bank directly -- a descriptor is essentially a vector, so handing it to the matrix vocabulary is a change of packaging, not a transformation.

Round trip with matrix_to_descriptor is bit-identical (measured max|Δ| = 0.0).

Args:

descriptor: (n,) or (m, n) real array.

Returns:

(1, n) or (m, n) float64.

Raises:

ValueError: 3-D or more / non-finite / dict (fit_zernike returns a dict, so

it is rejected here -- details in this module's docstring).

References (sample data, literature)

• Sample-data catalog (download URLs / licences) — 2-D uses skimage.data (BSD/public domain) plus synthetic images; 3-D lists download URLs for real data sources (Stanford, PDS, …).

• The canonical algorithm (author, year) and its uses are named in the family usage guide above.
