Practical 6 — Scanning using Nmap

Aim
Perform basic host discovery and inspect services on authorized test targets.

COMMANDS
```cmd
nmap -sn -Pn 192.168.1.0/24
nmap scanme.nmap.org
```

STEPS
1. Install/open Nmap.
2. Run a ping/host discovery scan against your lab subnet.
3. Run the scan against Nmap's designated test host, `scanme.nmap.org`.
4. Review which hosts respond and the ports/services reported.

Key flags
- `-sn`: host discovery only; no port scan.
- `-Pn`: skip host discovery and treat target as up.

Use Nmap only on systems/networks you own or have permission to scan.
