grind op• Data kinds: signal × signal → table
• Call: import fullseye as fs; fs.ledger.breakage_first_order_fit(t, w, x=None) -> 'dict' (to call the implementation directly, import grind; grind.breakage_first_order_fit(t, w, x=None) -> 'dict'; from the registry, opsdrive.get("breakage_first_order_fit"))
Fits the first-order breakage rate w(t) = w₀ exp(−S t) (Deniz 2004, Eq. (2); source: Austin).
w 1-D: time series of the volume fraction in one size class (or cumulative above size x). Returns: S, w0, rms_log, r2 (coefficient of determination of the ln w line), S_early / S_late (S fitted only on the first-half / second-half time points; equal if first-order —— if it slows, it departs from first-order). With w 2-D (n_x, n_t) and x (size of each row, µm) passed, gives per-row S and S = a_T x^α, a_T of alpha (Deniz's eq. (3)). apparent=True is a self-declaration that "this is not the top size class (particles are born into it from above), so eq. (1) is not exact"; it is always True when fitted to cumulative values. Fraction ≤ 0, > 1, or fewer than 3 points → ValueError.
• Sample-data catalog (download URLs / licences) — 2-D uses skimage.data (BSD/public domain) plus synthetic images; 3-D lists download URLs for real data sources (Stanford, PDS, …).
• Operator provenance and references — the sources of the research/methods this op family came from.
• The canonical algorithm (author, year) and its uses are named in the family usage guide above.
