grind op• Data kinds: image2d × scalar → table
• Call: import fullseye as fs; fs.ledger.particle_image_d50(image, pitch: 'float', basis: 'str' = 'volume', threshold: 'float' = 0.02, border: 'str' = 'exclude') -> 'dict' (to call the implementation directly, import grind; grind.particle_image_d50(image, pitch: 'float', basis: 'str' = 'volume', threshold: 'float' = 0.02, border: 'str' = 'exclude') -> 'dict'; from the registry, opsdrive.get("particle_image_d50"))
D10 / D50 / D90 [µm] from the particles in a coverage image. The area is the sum of coverage within the label (counts the partial pixels at the edge; does not swell with the threshold).
basis: "volume" (weighted by d³, treating particles as spheres — the same volume basis as laser diffraction), "number" (number basis). Even for the same image these two are different distributions, and the volume basis comes out larger. border: "exclude" (discard particles touching the border) / "include".
Returns: d10, d50, d90, diameters (equivalent circle diameter µm), n, n_border, basis. Fewer than 3 particles → ValueError. Fused particles are counted as one (not separated — splitting the painted area is the job of another op).
• Sample-data catalog (download URLs / licences) — 2-D uses skimage.data (BSD/public domain) plus synthetic images; 3-D lists download URLs for real data sources (Stanford, PDS, …).
• Operator provenance and references — the sources of the research/methods this op family came from.
• The canonical algorithm (author, year) and its uses are named in the family usage guide above.
