Free-pixel texture

Texture elements are square blocks matching the core size. Texture density directly controls the target population of visible contrasting blocks, including on off-white backgrounds. Texture fade controls how strongly texture is pulled back from colored, darker, or detailed image regions. Higher values keep it farther out; lower values allow it to infiltrate those regions more. The response is intentionally fine-grained near 1 so you can make small adjustments. In the default modes, visible texture polarity is chosen from the local background luminance so pale areas tend to get dark texture and darker areas tend to get light texture. Texture strength controls how strongly the visible texture moves toward the current dark or light QR core color. Error diffusion uses a randomized, non-directional pass; Flow diffusion preserves the directional cloud-and-tendril effect.

Advanced compensation

Advanced compensation adjusts the free pixels surrounding each required QR core to offset the luminance change introduced by forcing that core to black or white. Local compensation is applied after texture has been added, so it takes the texture-induced luminance changes into account as well. It can preserve the source image's average brightness more closely, but it is slower and may introduce visible halos or color shifts. Leave it set to None unless that tradeoff improves the particular image.
