# voicecast

Make narrated videos — 16:9 long-form or 9:16 Shorts — with [VoiceCast Studio](https://voicecast.studio)
from your terminal or your AI coding agent: an AI voice or your own cloned voice, designed cards and
pictures, captions, a proof to approve, and one-step publishing to YouTube.

## One line

```sh
curl -fsSL https://voicecast.studio/install | sh
```

That installs this CLI with pipx, signs the terminal in (approve a code in your browser, no token to
paste) and installs the skill for Claude Code, Codex and Gemini CLI. Or step by step:

```sh
pipx install voicecast
voicecast login            # opens the studio; confirm the code shown here
voicecast skill install    # ~/.claude/skills, ~/.agents/skills, Codex and Gemini CLI if present
voicecast list             # proves you're signed in
```

## Make a video

```sh
voicecast make --brief "why the moon follows the car" --look bedtime --format short
voicecast make --words outline.md --mode exact      # your words, --- between cards
voicecast make --voiceover take.m4a                 # a finished voiceover is the narration
voicecast proof <build> --open                      # look, then approve or reject
voicecast publish <build> --title "…" --kids no --wait
```

`voicecast --help` lists every command; `voicecast skill` prints the full guide an agent uses.

## Where it signs in

`voicecast login` writes `~/.voicecast/url` and `~/.voicecast/token` (readable by you alone);
`VOICECAST_URL` and `VOICECAST_TOKEN` override them. Point it at a studio running on your own Mac
with `voicecast login --url http://127.0.0.1:8080`. The old command name, `video-maker`, still works.

Standard library only; Python 3.9 or newer. No telemetry.
